Brooklyn College Art Department Announcements-careers-internships will be on Facebook….

November 13, 2015

Hello:

The Art Department has a Facebook page and this page  – not to mention the site the MFAs run, the Artgroup, etc.  We are trying to consolidate to make it easier to manage.  This site gets the least traffic, so we are shutting it down and just posting on facebook:

Just search Brooklyn College Art Department and like us! Same internship postings, news about alums and current students and faculty, announcements and more!

Thanks – and goodbye.

Daniel Bozhkov Talk This Friday 11/13!

November 8, 2015

Please join us THIS FRIDAY the 13th to hear Daniel Bozhkov speak about his work. As usual, snacks and refreshments will follow. If you don’t have a studio visit with Daniel, this is a great opportunity to chat and hang out a bit.

DANIEL BOZHKOV lecture
FRIDAY, NOV 13th
1-2 pm
Boylan, Room 5127

on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1642070786065110/

This Friday, November 13th, artist Daniel Bozhkov will be speaking at Brooklyn College about his work and practice. His conceptual work takes the form of many mediums, including installation, painting, and even aerial crop design.

All lectures are free and open to the public. Please join us!

“A New York artist who was born in Bulgaria, Daniel Bozhkov makes artworks that involve performances, elaborate installations and a range of comic conceptual conceits. He addresses daunting themes: globalization (he has worked as a greeter at a Wal-Mart, where he painted a fresco), the American vision of masculinity (he released a cologne inspired by Ernest Hemingway), and space flight (he installed a kebab stand near the Berlin Wall in tribute to the first German cosmonaut).

Bozhkov is fascinated at the scope of madness in the world, and takes a special joy in the absurd. For one particularly high-profile project, he made a crop-sign portrait of Larry King and took flying lessons so he could shoot a video from the plane of the image in the field. That footage was picked up by the local news and found its way to King himself, who aired it in the middle of an interview with Matthew Perry (of all people), who had just come out of rehab. It’s a uniquely quixotic work of art.”
