Internship: Brooklyn Arts Council!

Research and Administrative Internship, Development Department

Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) is a nonprofit arts organization that serves artists and arts organizations across the borough by providing grants, professional development opportunities, and ensuring that Brooklyn residents of all backgrounds and ages have access to affordable arts experiences. BAC seeks an intern to research our organization’s history of programs and events, the result of which will be a document that can be used for fundraising and marketing initiatives in 2016. The intern will work under the supervision of the Director of Development and the Communications Manager with task oversight from additional team members.


The intern will research photography and published articles and other public documentation of BAC’s programs and events over the past 50 years with the goal of creating a timeline of BAC’s evolution. S/he will utilize research resources in BAC’s archives and will offer insight, observations and suggestions pertinent to the work experience.

A lesser portion of the intern’s duties will include office administrative duties including filing and organizing of donor records.


The intern will be a graduate student with a strong interest in nonprofit organizations, preferably in the arts; experience in research; strong oral and written communication skills; facility with researching archival documents and photography; be computer literate (Adobe Suite, Excel, Photoshop, etc.); be a self-motivated and independent worker; and be a fresh thinker.


Minimum:  10 hours/week (equivalent of two 5-hour days) for 12 weeks
Preferred: 15 hours/week (equivalent of three 5-hour days) for 12 weeks

This internship is unpaid.
