Our first Guest Artist visits us this Thursday:

Rashaad Newsome Guest Lecture

Rashaad Newsome works in collage, sculpture, video, photography and performance art. This New York based artist is originally from New Orleans, LA. He currently shows with Marlborough Gallery, New York, NY. He received his BFA from Tulane University, New Orleans, LA and studied film at Film/Video Arts Inc, New York, NY. The artist’s piece The Conductor (Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi), 2008 is on view in Times Square for the month of September for Midnight Moment. He was one of the six artist commissioned to do a short film inspired by high heels for the Brooklyn Museum’s Killer Heels: The Art of the High-Heeled Shoe. Newsome exhibited in the 2011 Venice Art Biennale and the 2010 Whitney Biennial. He has participated in group exhibitions at MoMA PS1, New Museum, The Studio Museum of Harlem, Dumbo Arts Center, CUE Art Foundation and many more.
