November 10: JOHN DIVOLA
Divola’s large body of work, which he began showing in the 1970s, often explores landscape and architecture; he is the author of Continuity, Isolated Houses, and Dogs Chasing My Car in the Desert; and is Professor of Art at the University of California, Riverside.

November 17: ZOE STRAUSS
Strauss is an installation artist and photographer living and working in Philadelphia; she has exhibited in the 2006 Whitney Biennial, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia ICA; she is the author of America; and is represented in New York by Bruce Silverstein Gallery.

December 1: YUICHI HIBI
Hibi’s photographs mix urban explorations in Japan and New York with personal journeys; he is the author of Imprint, A Week with Mr. Frank, and Neco; and is represented in New York by L. Parker Stephenson Photographs.

Photojournalism Conference

COMMITTED PHOTOJOURNALISM

The conference – in addition to discussing the partisan photo reportage of the Spanish Civil War by Robert Capa, Gerda Taro, and Chim (David Seymour) included in ICP’s The Mexican Suitcase exhibition (http://www.icp.org/museum/exhibition/mexican-suitcase) – will reflect on committed photojournalism in a broad geographical and historical context. Particular consideration will be given to photography’s relationship with the press and to how photojournalism has changed over time. Organized by Juan Salas (Performance Studies, NYU). Speakers to be announced.</font>
