Pando – a unique leadership opportunity for Brooklyn College students

Why
Are you tired of waiting for politicians to fix the problems in your community?  Let’s give Obama a break and realize that if we want change, that change needs to come from all of us.

What
Pando is a new organization in NYC that gives you the chance to step up as a leader and find your own solution to a problem in your neighborhood.  Whatever problem you experienced in your community – poverty, poor health, low education standards, or anything else – who better to fix it than you?

How
Pando is looking for 25 leaders with smart ideas for fixing local problems.  We will support projects that can be carried out in 3 months.  You will receive leadership training and tools to run your project, including tools to raise money, organize events, manage volunteers, and spread the word about your initiative.  A documentary film crew will film your experience.

Example
Iman grew up in the Bronx.  A lot of people in her community eat unhealthy food and are now suffering from obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.  Iman decides to do her part to fix the problem.  She loves kids and wants to teach 15 kids from her neighborhood how to cook nutritious meals.  She hopes that by teaching kids about nutrition in a fun way, they will develop healthy eating habits that last a lifetime.  Iman can submit an application to Pando describing her idea.  If chosen, Pando will help Iman act on her idea and actually run that project successfully.

Why do this?
Make a real difference in your community, while adding leadership experience to your resume.  Show future employers that you have what it takes to be a leader and create positive change!
