Emergency Grants for students in need

Are you aware of an emergency fund for students in need?

This grant is to assist students in addressing emergency situations that would significantly impact academic performance and retention.  It has proven to be a value resource for those students experiencing an unanticipated economic hardship.
Since its start in October 2009, this fund has provided awards to over 30 students facing imminent homeless, lose of childcare, and funding for the replacement of stolen books/computers, brokers’ fees, medical testing, etc.   Although $1500 is the stated maximum, there has been flexibility in the awards approved by the emergency committee.
To apply for a Petrie grant, the individual must be a currently enrolled and matriculated Brooklyn College student, graduate or undergraduate, in good academic standing.  For further details or to apply, contact:

The Office of Student Assistance and Referral – Student Affairs, 2113 Boylan Hall, (718) 951-5352 or email studentSAR@brooklyn.cuny.edu <mailto:studentassi@brooklyn.cuny.edu> .
