Internship opportunity

The ArtTable National Office is looking for a Programs Intern to assist us with national programming efforts. The intern will work closely with the Development and Special Events Director and the Executive Director, and will be involved in a variety of research and planning pertaining to programs taking place during our 30th Anniversary, April 2010-April 2011. This opportunity is open to female students (3rd and 4th year undergraduates and all graduate students) and emerging professionals who are interested in a career in the arts or non-profit administration, and would be especially appealing to those specifically interested in program development.

Programs Intern Description: Winter/Spring 2010

ArtTable, the leadership organization for professional women in the visual arts, is seeking a Winter/Spring Programs Intern.

ArtTable provides an opportunity for an intern to gain experience in all aspects of program management at a not-for-profit (501c3) arts organization. The intern will work closely with the ArtTable staff including the Executive Director, Development and Special Events Director, and New York Programs Manager. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Assisting with logistics and publicity for local programs, including curator lead tours, panel discussions, and artist talks. Calendaring events and preparing notifications of events throughout the country.

Assisting with logistics and publicity for national programs including member’s trips, Career Development programs, the Annual Luncheon (April 2010) honoring Yoko Ono, and 30th Anniversary celebrations taking place throughout the country between April 2010 and April 2011

Researching leaders, institutions, venues, and events in the visual arts throughout the country. Creating and monitoring research databases.

Attending and assisting at local programs, especially high-profile events, on behalf of ArtTable

Attending, at times, committee meetings; preparing materials for meetings

Assisting with mailings and other administrative tasks as needed

The Programs Intern will have the opportunity to attend various programs and events, and meet leaders in the field. The ArtTable Internship Program is open to female emerging professionals, as well as third and fourth year undergraduate students and graduate students in the fields of art history, arts education, arts administration, curatorial and museum studies, women’s studies, and the visual arts (with a strong interest in arts administration). Candidates must be reliable and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, and possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Class credit can be provided. This is a small, congenial office located near the South Street Seaport. Through working with a small staff the intern will have the chance to learn about all aspects of non-profit arts management.
