The Women’s Forum Education Award is a unique initiative to encourage mature women to fulfill their potential through the pursuit of education and to enhance their capacities to provide productive and supportive service to their communities.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS IS DECEMBER 1st, 2009

Eligibility:

The awards ($10,000 each) will be given to women over the age of 35 who, after an interruption in their education, are now pursuing undergraduate college degrees. Monetary awards will be given to the 2009 Women’s Forum Fellows in two

installments; $5,000 upon notification of Award and $5,000 upon successful completion of an additional semester.

Applicants must:

* reside in New York City

* be pursuing her FIRST bachelor degree

* have attended a college in New York City during the 2008-2009 academic year and be enrolled for at least 6 credits in the 2009-2010 academic year

* have at least one additional semester of 3 credits to complete graduation requirements after June 2010

Applicants should describe in an essay of no more than 500 words:

* Personal history and general academic record

* Career goals and motivation

* Involvement with Community Service, art, athletics, business, science, etc.

* Applicants should submit an additional Statement of no more than 100 words, describing her financial need and describing how this award will help.

Margot Karle Scholarship: $1,000 to CUNY Students

Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice

The Margot Karle Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate women students at a City University of New York (CUNY) school. Applicants should demonstrate both financial need and a high degree of community involvement in working for social, racial, economic, political, and/or environmental justice.  Each year, 1 scholarship of $1,000 is awarded.

The 2010 Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship

Dr. Anita Borg devoted her adult life to revolutionizing the way we think about technology and dismantling barriers that keep women and minorities from entering computing and technology fields. Her combination of technical expertise and fearless vision continues to inspire and motivate countless women to become active participants and leaders in creating technology.

In her honor, Google is proud to honor Anita’s memory and support women in technology with the 2009 Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship. Google hopes to encourage women to excel in computing and technology and become active role models and leaders in the field.

Google Anita Borg Scholarship recipients will each receive a $10,000 award for the 2009-2010 academic year; Finalists will each receive a $1,000 award. A group of female undergraduate and graduate students will be chosen from the applicant pool, and scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate’s academic background and demonstrated leadership. All scholarship recipients and finalists will be invited to attend the Annual Google Scholars’ Retreat in Mountain View, California on June 25-28, 2009.
